Continuing on in our series about the Dewalt Tough System range of tool boxes in this article we will cover off the middles sized box of the range the Dewalt DS300 Tough Box. In our previous article we reviewed the DS150 and we found it to have some amazing features and the DS300 doesn’t disappoint either.
First thing I noticed about the DS300 is it is a true tool box. In that sense I mean it has been designed to carry a bit of gear with a nice deep internal compartment. It has an internal tray like many tool boxes but incorporates all the cool features that the Dewalt Tough System is known for including stackability, strength and weather resistance (IP65 rated).
Externally it is similar to the DS150, it maintains the four very usable and well placed handles, super sturdy steel latches, padlock eye and stacking clips.
The DS300 Dewalt Tough System Toolbox really is the “just right” Goldilocks sized toolbox for most needs.
The DS300 has enough room for your cordless and impact driver with room left over for some other necessities and you can put your small items on the top tray for easy access. No other dividers are included as they are with the DS150 however, this isn’t a deal breaker but considering the larger DS400 (review to come) contains a vertical organiser for screwdrivers etc and the smaller more featured DS150 comes with internal storage bins it may have been nice to have a few extra features built into this box.
Despite the feature gap between the DS300 and the others in the range I think the DS150 and DS300 as a combo would fit the majority of tradies needs and you’d get change at the moment from NZ$200 if you bought both! The DS150 can store your fasteners and the DS300 holds your tools.
Many of the Dewalt cordless kits come standard packaged in a DS150 box which will help get your kit started or let you “build a stack” of boxes easily.
